Stadium Minor League History:
South Atlantic League
1991-present
Current Status:
Home of the Capital City Bombers of the South
Atlantic League (single-A)
What's Good: This is a pretty generic stadium. It's clean, relatively comfortable, and servicable, and the playing surface is well kept. It's nothing fancy, but it's a perfectly fine place to spend a summer evening.
What's Not So Good:
Though baseball's been played at the site sine the 1920s, the current grandstand
was erected in time for the 1991 season. Because the physical structures
are fairly new and basic, the stadium has none of the attractions of older
ballparks (full roof, decades of history, quirky design elements), yet
none of the bells and whistles of the most recent generation of minor league
stadiums, either.
