The Good: RiverSide Stadium is a very basic but likable place located on an island in the middle of the Susquehanna River. It's a good location -- in a park and surrounded by trees and other greenery, and from the last few rows of the grandstand you can see the city of Harrisburg across the river. The stadium offers mostly bench seating, although individual seats are in the front of the grandstand and in a few rows down the lines. A plain, basic roof over the main seating area provides some shelter from the elements. It's a very pleasant venue for watching baseball, although since it was built in the 1980s it lacks both the sense of history of the older ballparks or the modern conveniences and comforts of the new ones.

The Not So Good: It's been a while since I visited, but when I was there the stadium had a very temporary feel to it. Offices and such were in trailers, and there was no cohesive sense that this stadium would even be around a decade or two down the line. |
