The Good: It's location is more or less unique -- the ballpark is literally right in the Mojave Desert, off of U.S. highway 395. The arid landscape was punctuated here and there by the twisted form of a joshua tree, some mountains were off in the distance behind center field, and in general I found the desert landscape oddly beautiful. The stadium itself is quite new and very comfortable, with all the seating comprised of individual seats and modern restrooms and concession facilities. Goofy antics and annoying sound effects were at a minimum, and the staff was great.

The Not So Good: Let's see -- well, it was really hot. But a breeze (OK, a stiff wind) was blowing through, which helped a bit. The "skyboxes" were kind of lame -- just open-air brick cubicles set up on the concourse (you can see them in the picture). Other than that, I didn't have any complaints. |
